Tired of being yelled at about quests until your ears bleed?
Are you looking to just chill with some gaming after a long day? Maybe even a bit of friendly chat?

The Unseen University might be just the place for you!
We are a friendly bunch of players who want to enjoy the game together while keeping their jobs/spouses/school/lives mostly intact. Our alliance chat is reserved for things more fun than quest obsession, like books, movies and game tips from our veterans.
No AP requirements.

We are not guaranteeing mythical ships every week (though we do have a good track record between epic and legendary - and now with a dash of mythical!), and we are not only looking for hardcore players that don't let a single day go without maxing out their points. That said, everyone needs to contribute something for things to run smoothly. The rules below are in place to:
  • Ensure that everyone pulls their weight and we're on the same page on what to expect from each other.
  • Leave room for people to tend to their lives for a couple of days without feeling they have to treat the game as a job.
  • Filter out very inactive players and people who lost interest in the game but forgot to notify us.

The rules
Short version:
Be civil and respectful to others, maintain a 50% attendance on average, communicate if you plan to be away for a while and you're good to go.​


Under the hood (for those who like numbers):
  1. Top contributors (max points) for a given season obtain the Librarian rank. Librarians are exempt from the rules below for one week, guaranteeing their spot in the alliance for the next season.
  2. New members start on Initiate status. Initiates need to get 80 points on their first day of membership and achieve half of maximum possible points by the end of the season (exact number depending on how many days are left when they join).
  3. Minimum required points: 360 per season. We will look for replacements before next season starts for members who can't participate a minimum of 2 days.
  4. Recommended points: 540 per season. Not meeting this will not get you replaced immediately, but will get you back to Initiate status and rule #2 will apply for the next season.
  5. Additionally, a minimum of 60 points is required on the first 2 days of each season. This is to ensure people who have left the game can be replaced in time to make up for the lost points.
  6. All the above can be suspended in case you need/want a break as long as you notify us in advance and let us know when you plan to be back. In case of breaks longer than a season, we may find a temporary replacement until you return.
Bonus rule:​
Being abusive to other members will get you removed from the alliance, regardless of rank and weekly points. Above all we aim to maintain a good atmosphere and have fun among friendly people. ​


Recruitment status:
Continuously considering applicants to replace a few inactive members, spots will open based on demand. If we are full, leave a note here or PM me and I'll get back to you about potential openings.

*Must be willing to share lodgings with orangutangs.

We have space for a few new members as some older ones have been inactive for a while, active players are welcome to join. I make space as needed when newcomers join, so if full try again a bit later.

Been with these guys nearly a week now and am impressed!

Mostly new players, which I think gives a really refreshing dynamic: no big egos, questioning and supporting one another from the bottom, up: there are no daft questions here, for it’s learning for everyone.

I really like their approach to alliance quests: we came away with epic this time. And, towards the end of the season, where other alliances are trying to squeeze out every point they can, we’re chilling out discussing Terry Pratchett books.

There are 4 spaces left so, whether you’re a new player keen to gently find your place in this game among other newer players, or a vet keen to help an up-and-coming alliance, please feel free to pop by. There will be a warm welcome!

Hello!
I applied just now to join the alliance.
Big Discworld fan here and newbie in the game.
In my previous alliance I finished most weeks (2 out of 3) with 1080 points, but I quit as I was not happy with the lazy people. :)

New players are most welcome in our ranks, Discworld fans even more so :)
Points are nice, but I expect your Pratchett fan...hood (is that a word?) to make you more friends in the alliance. There are no lazy people here, only members with lives outside the game, who cannot always be around. We value attitude and community spirit more than five extra shards.

Sadly, I am bowing out from the game (again): couldn’t quite get back into it.

I’d just like to take this opportunity to highly recommend Unseen University as an alliance.

If you ‘need‘ Mythical ship rewards, you may prefer to seek certain other ‘high-performers‘, who’ll insist you spend valuable drinking time with your nose in the books.

However, if you are the the kind of student, who is open to nipping down the pub for a between-lesson pint, or enjoys putting tacks on the lecturer’s chair, trusting that it’ll all come together on exam day, then Unseen University would like to hear from you.
